SageTech Veterinary is proud to announce its achievement of the prestigious UKCA Mark for its innovative waste anaesthetic gas capture device – the ‘VET-Dock’.
It is a lesser-known fact that current veterinary anaesthetic practice allows most waste anaesthetic agent to be directly released to the environment, significantly contributing to the carbon footprint of veterinary healthcare. Only 5% of anaesthetic administered during a procedure is metabolised by the patient whilst the rest is released into the atmosphere as a potent greenhouse gas.
SageTech Veterinary have developed a solution to tackle this problem. Exhaled waste volatile anaesthetic agents are captured onto a filter inside a reusable capture canister (VET-Can) which is housed inside a capture machine (VET-Dock) that integrates simply into existing veterinary anaesthetic equipment. The captured anaesthetic agents can then be extracted and recycled for reuse. The UKCA Mark, a symbol of quality and compliance, signifies that SageTech Veterinary’s VET-Dock has successfully met the rigorous requirements for conformity. This endorsement validates the device’s safety, effectiveness, and adherence to the highest industry benchmarks.
Designed by a multidisciplinary team of experts and backed by extensive research, SageTech Veterinary’s VET-Dock represents a significant advancement in sustainable veterinary practices. In addition to meeting regulatory requirements, SageTech Veterinary remains committed to ongoing research and development to enhance its innovative solution to address pollution caused by volatile anaesthetics.
